Karen Haines (Director's) Story:
My first role as a Clerk to Governors dates back to 2001 when I started with my first 'training' school in Levenshulme, Manchester. I undertook this role whilst still working part time as an administrator for the NSPCC.
Through 'word of mouth' the number of schools I provided a clerking service for gradually increased. After 18 months, I left the NSPCC and I went to work full time for Greater Manchester Police continuing to provide the clerking service to a growing bank of schools.
Business naturally grew to a point where I personally could not provide the service to any more schools so I decided to advertise for and train new clerks. I then had a choice to make and left Greater Manchester Police in 2009 to focus on the development of my business. I have not looked back!
I undertake continued professional development (including the NCTL Clerks Programme).
